What will happen in 2022 about Brexit?

Despite the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and the UK, all movements of goods are still subject to customs procedures.

In order to simplify customs clearance processes, the UK had introduced a ‘phased approach’ for imports into the UK which ends on 31th December 2021.
Based on this transitional regulation, UK importers still had the opportunity to introduce unchecked goods through the so-called CFSP (Customs Freight Simplified Procedure), which offset the need for a full border declaration.

But what will Brexit look like in 2022?

Alberti e Santi wants to guide you into the new year, through the changes that will be in force from January and for which it can be your business partner.

On 1st January and 1st March 2022, the entire BOM (Border Operating Model) will come into force. This means that all imports of goods into the UK will have to meet all requirements and obligations without fail.

What’s changing – Brexit – From 1st January 2022

  • Deferred authorisations will no longer be possible or valid: UK Customs Import Declarations will be required for all goods
  • Customs checks on all imports into the UK from the EU
  • Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) required for all imports into UK via ports using pre-lodgment system
  • Pre-notification required for animal products (POAO) and agri-food products, also there will be a documentary check on the UK IPAFFS system.
